Roberto Rafael Galvis

March 24, 1999 ~ March 25, 2018 (age 19)

Our beloved son, Roberto Rafael Galvis, age 19, passed away on March 25, 2018.

He was born on March 24, 1999 in Guatire, Venezuela, the son of Julio Galvis and Milagros Maestres.  He attended Langston Hughes High School in Fairburn, GA and Tri-Cities High School in East Point, GA where he graduated in 2017.  Roberto was an avid member of the soccer team at both schools.

Most recently, he was attending Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, GA where he was a computer science major as well as a passionate member of the college soccer team.

More than anything else, Roberto loved playing soccer and was the starting goalie of the Tigers Soccer Club, led by our dear friend Coach Ronald Freeman.  Playing soccer for the Tigers, GMC, and his high-school teams was by far the activity that brought Roberto the greatest joy.

In addition to the boundless happiness that soccer brought to Roberto’s life, being with his friends was unequivocally precious too.  He would often state that time he was able to spend with his friends was more valuable than any material possession that he could ever want or have.

Roberto is survived by:  his mother Milagros and step-father Navin; his brothers, Duimel and Ephrem; his maternal grandparents, Augusta and Carlos; his paternal grandmother, Josefa;   his aunts, Yanira, Obdalis, Isys and Irois; his uncles, Miguel Angel, Roberto, Alexander and John; and several cousins.
